Job Summary
The Business Development Officer – Digital and Micro Loans is a high-impact position responsible for transforming how businesses and individuals access finance in Uganda. This role drives the growth, adoption, and profitability of eTranzact’s payroll-linked loans, Financial Wellness Platforms (FWP), and digital/micro-lending products. By building strategic industry relationships, identifying market opportunities, and aligning internal product features with client needs, the ideal candidate will expand our corporate base and strengthen our market presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research on the corporate and employee finance sectors to uncover emerging trends, operational data, and competitive challenges.
- B2B Relationship Management: Identify, engage, and build strategic partnerships with enterprise, corporate, SME lenders, and Primary Mortgage Lenders (PMLs) to promote payday and digital financing services.
- Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute targeted sales strategies, create compelling business proposals, deliver presentations, and close long-term, revenue-generating commercial deals.
- Product & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal product development and sales teams to customize refinance strategies and lending solutions that directly fit market and lender requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations, client onboarding pipelines, and borrower portfolios strictly align with Bank of Uganda policies, KYC/AML frameworks, and industrial best practices.
- Reporting & Support: Generate detailed reports regarding business development performance, client updates, and market insights for senior leadership while supporting ad-hoc management projects.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
- Professional Alignment: Active membership in a relevant professional body or equivalent recognized industry certification.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or corporate relationship management within the financial services or mortgage sector.
- Domain Expertise: Clear, practical understanding of micro-lending dynamics, payroll-linked loans, and digital lending processes.
- Technical Skills: Highly proficient with CRM software tracking systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Competencies: High ethical standards, absolute professional integrity, strong deal-negotiation capabilities, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills
- Direct business development experience within a fintech or digital financial services firm operating in Uganda or East Africa.
- Deep familiarity with the Bank of Uganda regulatory environment and strict compliance oversight.
- Advanced financial data analysis skills for trend mapping and growth strategy formulation.
- Flexibility to adapt to fluid business priorities and work extended hours when necessary to achieve high-priority targets.
