Brief Description of Role:

The Commissioning Engineer-Substation Automation will handle a diversified portfolio of technical functions related to the development and engineering of applications for Substation Automation Systems, including Gateways, HMI, and Communication requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish data exchange between bay-level and station-level.
  • Configure and test NCC/CCR interfaces.
  • Support site organization during Installation, Pre-Commissioning, and Commissioning, ensuring compliance with Quality Procedures, work instructions, and processes.
  • Prepare and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), including internal validation and customer FAT/SAT for successful project delivery.
  • Analyze and interpret technical procedures, governmental regulations, and equipment issues to provide solutions.
  • Proactively participate in team initiatives and management meetings to achieve project goals (SIM1).
  • Understand the scope of work, adhere to time allocations, and ensure full traceability (timesheets, change orders, etc.).
  • Assist planners, coordinators, and project managers in understanding customer site conditions.
  • Train customer maintenance and operational staff, among other duties.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must possess the following:

  • University Degree in Electronics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Certification from professional bodies (ERB and ERA).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in substation automation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA, PLCs, structured cabling, microcontrollers, and software programming/configuration.
  • Experience with Schneider SAS or equivalent OEM and protection configuration is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in IEC61850, IEC-101, IEC104, and other substation automation protocols (MicroSCADA X, MODBUS, OPC DA/UA, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel across the region.

Additional Requirements (Advantageous):

  • Experience in preparing design documents and substation automation configuration/databases.
  • IT/Networking/Cybersecurity certification.
  • Ability to conduct FAT/SAT per project specifications.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet topologies and redundancy concepts
