Position: Consultant for Supervision of Road Construction and Upgrading
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and supervise the construction and upgrading of roads to bitumen standards across the specified lots in Wakiso District, Nansana, and Makindye Sasbagabo.
- Ensure compliance with engineering designs, specifications, and quality standards as per the project requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance, including work progress, adherence to timelines, and resource utilization.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with safety, environmental, and social safeguards.
- Review and approve construction methodologies, materials, and workmanship.
- Prepare and submit periodic progress reports, including technical and financial updates, to the procuring entity.
- Resolve technical issues arising during construction and provide solutions in alignment with project goals.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including local authorities, contractors, and community representatives, to ensure smooth project implementation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in supervising road construction projects, preferably in urban or metropolitan areas.
- Professional certification from a recognized engineering body is an advantage.
- Familiarity with World Bank and French Development Agency procurement and supervision guidelines is desirable.
- Strong communication, leadership, and report-writing skills.
