The Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project is a global initiative funded by the United States Government. In Uganda, FHI 360 implements EpiC in partnership with Government of Uganda (GoU) and her stakeholders in delivery of life-saving programs.
Scope of Work and expected deliverables
The consultant will support FHI 360 EpiC project to conduct a rapid baseline comprehensive assessment of 23 incinerators of different types at the following locations: 23 facilities (3 HC IVs – KanguJumira, Kebisoni, and Kassanda; 15 General Hospitals - Aber, Anaka, Atutur, Bullisa, Bwindi C.O.U, Kagadi, Katakwi, Kiboga, Kitagata, Kitgum, Kyenjonjo, Masindi, Mityana, Mukono COU, and Tororo; and 5 RRHs- Fort portal, Jinja, Hoima, Mubende, and Lira).
Amongst these, the consultant will also assess functionality of 7 previously operationalized incinerators (Atutur, Bwindi, Fort portal, Katakwi, Kitagata, Mityana, and Tororo). The consultant will work in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) – Clinical Services, Engineering, & Environmental Health Departments. This assessment will inform operationalization of incinerators for biomedical/healthcare waste management at these facilities.
The scope of the assessment will include; plumbing works, electrical works, incinerator machine components, incinerator consumable requirements, suitability for management of biomedical waste, etc.
Key deliverable(s)
A costed assessment report.
Experience
Experience in installation of incinerators of different models.
Previous experience in waste management by incineration
Experience in biomedical, biomechanical, electrical, and plumbing works regarding incinerators.
Experience in health economics will be an added advantage.
Ability to collaborate and work with (District Local Governments) DLGs, Regional Referral Hospitals, and Ministry of Health.
