As a school cook the employee is qualified to perform the work assigned him and will report to the RI UG Operations Manager and follow the Specific Tasks for a school cook below:
Responsibilities
Work with the other kitchen staff to prepare timely meals for all RPS learners and the staff. The meals include Breakfast and lunch which should be prepared to high quality and as specified in the daily Menus. Breakfast is expected to be served at 10:30am, while lunch should be served at 1:00 pm.
Arrive at the school by 6am and complete all tasks required to prepare Porridge/breakfast for the RPS learners. These tasks include but are not limited to; boiling water, mixing and cooking the porridge, assembling clean cups for learners to use, serving the porridge in time, cooking lunch and serving it in time.
Ensure a high standard of hygiene by regularly washing used/dirty plates after meals, properly cleaning saucepans after use, and all other kitchen utensils including knives, spoons, folks, cleaning food serving points before and after serving meals.
Be responsible for keeping the kitchen, all cooking and serving areas clean to avoid food poisoning. This involves but not limited to; Cleaning the kitchen counters, Sweeping the kitchen floor, dusting surfaces in the kitchen and always making sure the kitchen is tidy.
Storing supplies well to avoid contamination and wastage
Using supplies including food and water sparingly to avoid waste
Participate in weekly support team meetings
Participate in trainings organized by organization
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly deep cleaning of the facility, service areas, and all kitchen equipment such as pans, plates, spoons, cups, counters, tables.
Prepare separate meals for students with allergies or specific diets as indicated on the weekly menu.
Dispose of waste according to the Food Services Operating Procedures and Health processes and procedures.
Continuously share feedback with the administrators of the school about how to improve meal service
