Job Summary
The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cranes to lift, move, and position materials on the construction site. The operator must ensure that every lifting activity is conducted in full compliance with safety standards, site procedures, and manufacturer guidelines, prioritizing the protection of people, equipment, and the environment at all times.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Operate cranes and lifting equipment strictly following safety protocols and project requirements.
- Perform daily pre-operation safety checks, including inspection of brakes, hydraulic systems, cables, hooks, and safety devices.
- Work closely with riggers, signalers, and site supervisors to ensure safe lifting coordination and clear communication.
- Ensure all loads are properly rigged, secured, and within the crane's rated capacity.
- Immediately report any unsafe conditions, near-misses, or equipment defects to the supervisor or maintenance team.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, lift logs, and any incidents.
- Participate in Safety Toolbox Talks, lifting plan briefings, and mandatory safety training.
- Strictly adhere to PPE requirements and promote a safety-first culture on site.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Crane Operator certification or recognized professional training.
- Proven experience operating mobile or tower cranes on major construction projects.
- Must have a valid Operating License with Class F for Engineering Machines.
- Strong knowledge of crane safety regulations, lifting plans, load charts, and standard hand signals.
- Ability to interpret drawings and lift instructions with precision.
- High level of discipline, situational awareness, and commitment to safe operations.
- Strong awareness of risk and hazard identification.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during critical lifting operations.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
