Escort Driver job at TransEast (U) Ltd

DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

JOB OVERVIEW:

TransEast (U) Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced professional Escort driver to Coordinate and run escorts for wide load and DGs effectively, point potential problems, be resourceful and to be informative on the road.

Responsibilities:

• Manage Low loader and Hazardous cargo escorts.
• Ensure vehicle is cleaned, maintained & serviced.
• Manage & take charge of the drivers / turn men on the escort.
• Take care of problems and incidents the best you can.
• Constantly keep in touch with the Operations Department concerning Breakdowns, delays.
• Conduct toolbox meetings each morning before convoy sets off.
• Prepare safety reports after the convoy.
• Ensure convoy members abide by convoy rules.
• Manage all convoys, report constantly to Operations and HSE dept.
• Observe ALL driving regulations – traffic & OSH Acts in whichever country they are operating.
• Follow all company and regulatory agency and HSE Policies
• Ensure the vehicle undergoes pre-trip inspection before any trip.

Qualifications:

• Vocational education, a valid Ugandan driving permit and a Passport.
• Defensive driving certification and road safety training
• Minimum of 3 years’ driving experience of a manual Vehicle.
• Familiarity with East African traffic regulations and ability to carry out basic vehicle repairs
• Have no criminal record. Possess a police certificate of good conduct.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

• Strong understanding of vehicle functionality and maintenance
• Excellent professional driving and time management skills
• Ability to stay calm and act appropriately under pressure or in emergencies
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Reliability and adherence to safety protocols
• Understand, speak, read and write English and Kiswahili
