JOB DETAILS:
Responsibilities of the Finance Lead
• Assist with benefits administration processes and preparing monthly payroll ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in Uganda
• Accurately and timely pay all related statutory remittances (PAYE, NSSF, and WHT)
• Review AYAN staffs' timesheets for payments, leave, holidays, among others.
• Oversee AYAN's accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing and recording of transactions.
• Manage AYAN's cash flow, including receipts, disbursements, and bank reconciliations.
• Sustain relationships with AYAN Financial institutions, auditors, and other financial stakeholders.
• ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in Uganda, the region and globally.
• Detect and mitigate financial risks to AYAN, and develop strategies and maximize financial opportunities.
• Manage AYAN's budgeting and forecasting processes to management and the board of directors.
• Ensure financial reports are produced in compliance with policies for internal and external stakeholders, including keeping track of expenditures in various currencies.
• Collaborate with program Lead to develop and manage project budgets and provide financial oversight and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Undertake accuracy checks to ensure all transactions are entered into the accounting software accurately.
• Coordinate with all Program officers, program Lead to collect necessary documents, approvals and ensure proper documentation after return from field activities
• Assists in financial management, tracking. Preparing payment letters, drafting financial statements to donors, and recording them accordingly.
• Participates and provides financial reporting for annual budget planning, audit reviews, and
REQUIREMENTS
The applicant for the AYAN Finance Lead should,
• Demonstrate commitment to work in a rural area or in refugee settlements.
• Have excellent interpersonal skills and work within a diverse team.
• At least hold a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or any other accredited professional certification preferred
• Have 3+ years of experience in financial management, preferably for a NGO or a CBO managing grants and contracts.
• Have experience working or willingness to work with refugees and other displaced persons.
• Be willing to learn and think strategically for AYAN.
• Have the ability to communicate complex financial information t0 AYAN non-financial stakeholders.
• Have strong computer skills, including proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office
• Have the ability to work independent and product very with limited supervision.
