This role will be responsible for overseeing the company’s finance and accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, reporting, and the efficient management of various operational areas as outlined below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead month-end and annual financial closing and consolidation.
  • Oversee internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, VAT, import regulations, and Ugandan financial laws.
  • Manage all accounting, finance, and audit functions, promoting best practices.
  • Implement approval workflows and cost controls.
  • Enforce consistent reporting on inventories and accounts receivable (AR).
  • Drive AR performance and stock efficiency, including stock turns.
  • Deliver timely financial analysis and insights to support executive decisions.
  • Supervise and develop all META Uganda finance and accounting staff.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risk.
  • Maintain rolling cash-flow forecasts, including for cross-border payments.
  • Handle trade financing and external stakeholder relations (banks, auditors, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
  • Certified Public Accounting (CPA 4 or higher)
  • SAGE proficient
  • Good analytical and reporting skills with excellent attention to detail
  • High professional integrity and organizational skills
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a busy accounting environment
  • Uncompromising attention to business controls
  • Strong leadership skills to develop and motivate his or her team.
  • Effective communication to interface with multiple parties.
  • Proven track record of people management & leadership.
