Position Overview:
The Head of Business Technology reports to the Managing Director and will be based at Head Office. The role is responsible for the delivery of stable & reliable technology services that support corporate strategy to ensure that the organization obtains a competitive advantage. The role is also accountable for the effective and efficient delivery of all technology projects, digital channels, research and innovation as well as efficient delivery of day-to-day ICT services and assuring the stability and health of the technology services and infrastructure to enhance service delivery.
Responsibilities:
• Strategic Planning:
o Develop and implement the bank's technology vision and strategic plan.
o Align IT initiatives with business objectives to enhance operational efficiency.
o Collaborate with executive management to formulate long-term technology strategies.
o Draw and implement the BT operations plan for the Bank's digital strategy.
o Lead business process mapping to identify the business drivers for the selection of technology solutions.
o Lead the technology innovation and business automation team to support the Bank's transformation into a modern digitized bank.
• Leadership and Management:
o Lead the ICT department to ensure effective delivery of technology services.
o Organize and control the planning, deployment, and maintenance of the Bank's production technology platforms.
o Manage the planning, implementation, and maintenance of core systems.
o Ensure that all systems are secure, reliable, and compliant with regulatory standards.
o Oversee software upgrades, releases, patches, and disaster recovery plans.
o Supervise staff training, development, and performance management.
o Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
• Risk Management:
o Identify potential risks associated with IT operations and develop mitigation strategies.
o Establish frameworks to mitigate Technology risks to the Bank and ensure risk management is mainstream in all Business technology operations.
o Ensure compliance with internal policies as well as local regulations regarding information security.
o Conduct regular audits to assess system vulnerabilities.
o Ensure speedy closure of ICT Audit findings.
• Vendor Management:
o Develop a comprehensive strategy that aligns with the organization's overall goals.
o Negotiate contracts that clearly outline expectations, deliverables, timelines, and pricing structures with third-party vendors for technology services.
o Evaluate vendor performance to ensure service quality meets bank standards.
o Maintain relationships with key technology partners.
• Budget Management:
o Develop and manage the ICT budget in alignment with strategic goals.
o Monitor expenditures to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
o Prioritize Investments given budget constraints to ensure that critical business initiatives receive funding.
o Prepare Detailed Cost Analysis for each ICT budget line detailing value derived from the expenditure.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
o Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding technology initiatives and changes.
o Ensure compliance with established ICT policies, procedures and statutory regulations and advise management on optimization of ICT resources in the Bank.
o Provide regular updates on project statuses to senior management.
o Develop a detailed communication plan that outlines how information will be shared with each stakeholder group.
Person Specification:
• Minimum Academic Qualifications:
o A master's degree or equivalent in an ICT related field or Business Studies.
o First degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Computer Management/Information Technology or relevant IT related Qualification.
o Must possess professional IT qualification and training such as (ITIL), IT Security (CISA, CISM), Programme and Project Management certification (PMP, Prince 2), IT Networks (CCNP/MCSE).
o Should possess at least one IT governance certification such as CGEIT and COBIT or other equivalent qualifications.
o Should be a member of a Professional association such as ISACA or PMI in good standing.
o Have knowledge and relevant work experience of not less than ten (10) years, with at least five (5) years served in senior leadership in a related role in a financial institution.
o Should have advanced knowledge of related statutory IT compliance regulation.
o Should be a member of a Professional association such as ISACA or PMI in good standing. Professional certifications in Technology governance such as ITIL, CGEIT, etc.
Experience:
o 10 years' experience in ICT Operations with at least 5 years in management role as Head of IT or Business Automation & Innovation in a busy corporate organization.
o Proven track record of leading ICT Innovations and Business Automation.
o Practical experience with new technologies and digital solutions such as AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Robotics, etc.
o Proven ability to supervise a diverse team of ICT professionals.
o Proven experience in ICT Governance and ICT Risks Management.
o Ability to develop ICT policies and frameworks.
o Ability to develop and elaborate ICT Strategy and plan.
o Proven experience in assessing core banking systems within financial institutions.
o Technical expertise in IT systems architecture relevant to core banking solutions.
o Proven experience in the business re-engineering process in the banking industry.
o Experience of coaching and mentoring team members.
o Experience in managing the delivery of Infrastructure, ERP and software development projects; demonstrated success leading implementations, integrations and operation in an IT role required.
