Role Overview: The Health & Safety Specialist will develop, implement, and oversee company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment across the manufacturing facility. This role focuses on accident prevention and promoting a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and enforce organizational health and safety guidelines.
Conduct regular risk assessments and facility inspections to identify potential hazards.
Investigate accidents or incidents to discover root causes and implement corrective actions.
Organize and conduct employee health and safety training (e.g., fire drills, equipment handling).
Ensure compliance with all local and national health and safety regulations.
Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
Manage and advise on the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Professional certification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH) is highly preferred.
Proven experience (3+ years) as a Health & Safety Officer in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
In-depth knowledge of Ugandan health and safety legislation.
