Job Summary
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the IT Asset Management Support role provides operational support for the effective management of the organization’s IT assets throughout their lifecycle. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate asset records, supporting procurement and deployment activities, coordinating asset movements, assisting with software license compliance, and ensuring adherence to IT asset management policies and procedures.
Job Description
Key accountabilities
- Maintain accurate records of hardware and software assets in the organization’s asset management system.
- Track IT assets throughout their lifecycle, including procurement, receipt, deployment, transfers, maintenance, and disposal.
- Assist with the receiving, tagging, and inventory of IT equipment.
- Coordinate asset allocation and recovery during employee onboarding, transfers, and offboarding.
- Perform periodic physical asset audits and reconcile discrepancies with asset records.
- Support software asset management by maintaining license inventories and assisting with compliance activities.
- Generate regular asset reports and dashboards for management.
- Monitor warranty and maintenance information for IT equipment.
- Support procurement by verifying asset requirements and updating procurement records.
- Coordinate secure disposal and recycling of retired IT assets in accordance with organizational policies.
- Maintain supporting documentation, including asset registers, disposal certificates, and transfer records.
- Assist in developing and improving IT asset management processes and documentation.
- Respond to asset-related queries from users and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with IT governance, security, and audit requirements.
Role/person specification
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Information Technology, or a related field.
- Professional certification in IT Asset Management (e.g., IAITAM, ITIL Foundation) is an added advantage.
Preferred Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in IT Asset Management, IT Support, Service Desk, or a related technology operations role.
- Experience using IT Asset Management (ITAM) or IT Service Management (ITSM) tools is desirable.
Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of IT asset lifecycle management.
- Basic knowledge of software licensing principles.
- Familiarity with inventory management practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with asset management tools such as ServiceNow, or similar platforms is an advantage.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

- Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
