​​UNICEF Uganda Country Office requires high-quality visual materials through videography to highlight key issues affecting children and UNICEF’s humanitarian response. These visuals will support advocacy and upstream with policymakers, media, donors, partners, and the public on priorities like nutrition, teenage pregnancy, increasing investments for children in child focused sectors, Early Childhood Development, protecting women and children from violence, girls’ education, and parenting. By producing and sharing this content through videos, UNICEF Uganda aims to increase awareness and motivate action for children and women.

Objective:

The overall objective is to set up a roster of pre-approved Videographers (consultants) with agreed, when-actually-engaged fees and terms of engagement. This will help the UNICEF Uganda Country Office to contract their services to document UNICEF’s activities in the field on an ‘as needed’ basis, to share with stakeholders at national, regional and global level. The contract does not guarantee minimal days of work.

These tasks require a highly skilled videographers with excellent editing skills and capable of producing high quality video materials focused on issues affecting children and women and depicting UNICEF response in partnership with the Government of Uganda, district authorities, implementing partners, private sector among others. Given that most of the work is implemented in most 3 vulnerable communities, the videographer will be facilitated to undertake field missions to generate a wide range of raw footage.

How can you make a difference?

As a Videographer, you will produce high‑quality, impactful video content that highlights issues affecting children and women while showcasing UNICEF’s response in collaboration with the Government of Uganda, district authorities, implementing partners, and the private sector. You will apply strong technical and editing skills to generate compelling visual stories that reflect the realities of vulnerable communities and the transformative work taking place on the ground. To support this, you will undertake field missions across Uganda’s most at‑risk areas to capture a wide range of authentic raw footage that strengthens UNICEF’s communication, advocacy, and programme visibility.

Scope of Work:

This consultancy aims to create digital audio-visual documentation of UNICEF-supported programmes in Uganda for communication and advocacy across various platforms. The videographer will shoot, edit, and produce content such as short clips, documentaries, and viral videos, focusing on UNICEF’s activities, partners, beneficiaries, donors, and events both within and outside Kampala. These videos will help UNICEF's Communication Section showcase its work, engage audiences, and document impact for partners, donors, and policymakers.

The goal is to create a Long-Term Agreement (LTA) of pre-approved videographers with agreed fees and terms, allowing UNICEF Uganda Country Office to hire them as needed to document field activities for stakeholders. The contract does not guarantee any minimum amount of work.

Videographers must be highly skilled in shooting and editing, able to produce quality videos on issues affecting children and women and show UNICEF’s response alongside partners. Most assignments are in vulnerable communities; videographers will be supported to travel and gather diverse footage.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

Education:

University Degree in Communication, Journalism, Broadcast Journalism-TV, or equivalent professional work experience in the above

Work Experience:

  • Five years progressively responsible professional work experience in the above fields, interactive digital media
  • Experience in undertaking similar work or projects

Skills:

  • Ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form; specific skills in videography and editing systems.
  • Knowledge of current theories and practices of communication, research, analyzing, planning, strategy development and Uganda’s digital and TV landscape.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas as well as impart knowledge and teach skills.
  • It is preferred that the bidders are in or near Kampala since some of the assignments might be ad hoc.
  • Bidders should be equipped to conduct assignments in all UNICEF supported programmes across the country.
  • Previous experience with humanitarian, development and emergency work.
