Our client in the health sector is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Laboratory Technologist to join our team.
Location: Naalya, Kampala
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology/Science from a recognized institution
- Valid practicing license from the Allied Health Professionals Council (AHPC)
- Minimum of 2 years' relevant work experience in a clinical/hospital laboratory setting
- Sound knowledge of laboratory safety protocols, quality control, and specimen handling
- Proficiency in routine laboratory investigations (hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, parasitology)
- Experience with pediatric specimen collection is an added advantage
- Strong attention to detail, integrity, and good communication skills
- Computer literacy (LIS/data entry experience a plus)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests accurately and promptly
- Ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, handling, and storage
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adherence to quality assurance standards
- Record, interpret, and report test results to clinicians in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and inventory of reagents/supplies
- Adhere to infection control and biosafety protocols
- Liaise with referral laboratories where necessary
