Purpose of the Job
To offer technical support to laboratory services.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences or Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor of Biomedical Science from a recognized University/Institution.
- Must be registered by the Uganda Allied Health Professional Council.
Experience needed
- Possession of work experience is an added advantage

- Developing and ensuring that the laboratory Quality Management Plan is followed.
- Overseeing the laboratory’s Safety Programmes.
- Assisting with the development of laboratory designs and plans for new or upgraded laboratory facilities.
- Ensuring that there is an adequate supply of chemicals and related laboratory equipment to ensure continuous operation of the laboratory.
- Organizing and assigning a variety of laboratory activities to subordinate technicians, including writing and updating manuals.
- Conducting safety audits for the laboratory and always maintaining safe-working practices.
- Co-ordinating use of science materials (equipment, chemicals & apparatus) with other laboratories within the University.
- Developing and implementing measures for safe handling/storage/disposal of hazardous substances in accordance with relevant regulations.
- Developing and implementing operational guidelines and practices in the laboratory (e.g. safety policy and always overseeing laboratory Safety Programmes).
- Maintaining the asset register and conducting annual stock-taking.
