About the Role

ABSA Bank is recruiting Lead Generators for two roles:

  • Universal Retail Lead Generator
  • Agent Support Advisor (Agent Banking)

Both roles focus on business growth, customer acquisition, relationship management, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations.

Role 1: Universal Retail Lead Generator

Purpose

  • Grow the branch's retail business by:
  • Selling consumer lending products
  • Selling retail assets and liability products
  • Generating and converting quality sales leads
  • Developing relationships with new and existing customers

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Business Development (80%)

  • Achieve sales targets
  • Identify customer needs
  • Cross-sell banking products
  • Generate quality leads
  • Follow up prospects until conversion
  • Complete and submit accurate application forms
  • Comply with operational risk, AML and KYC requirements

2. Customer Service (10%)

  • Deliver excellent customer service
  • Resolve customer queries promptly
  • Process customer applications
  • Escalate unresolved issues
  • Work closely with Operations, Credit and KYC teams

3. Compliance & Operational Excellence (10%)

  • Ensure accurate documentation
  • Maintain KYC compliance
  • Support audit readiness ("green audit")
  • Follow account-opening procedures
  • Adhere to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies

Role 2: Agent Support Advisor (Agent Banking)

Purpose

  • Support and grow ABSA's Agent Banking network by:
  • Recruiting new agents
  • Retaining existing agents
  • Managing agent relationships
  • Supporting agents with terminal and banking system issues
  • Growing business opportunities

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Growth & Retention (60%)

  • Recruit profitable agents
  • Build business relationships
  • Cross-sell banking products
  • Grow revenue from existing agents
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts
  • Submit accurate customer applications
  • Maintain compliance with KYC and AML

2. Customer Service (30%)

  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Resolve agent queries
  • Support agent terminal functionality
  • Build long-term relationships
  • Understand customer business needs
  • Recommend product improvements
  • Work with internal support teams

3. Compliance & Operational Excellence (10%)

  • Ensure accurate onboarding documentation
  • Maintain KYC compliance
  • Follow onboarding procedures
  • Escalate unresolved compliance issues
  • Support successful audits

Minimum Qualifications

  • First or Second Class Bachelor's Degree
  • Credit (Grade 6 or better) in Mathematics and English at O-Level
  • Two Principal Passes at A-Level
  • Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce or Management Studies (Required)

Preferred Experience

  • Sales experience (especially banking or competitor products)
  • Field sales experience
  • Customer acquisition experience
  • Relationship management experience

  • Basic knowledge of banking products and services
  • Knowledge of local banking laws and regulations
  • KYC procedures
