The Management Accountant is responsible for providing accurate financial information, budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and financial reporting to support informed decision-making. The role ensures sound financial management practices, compliance with organizational policies, and effective use of resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
- Develop and monitor organizational budgets and forecasts.
- Analyse financial performance and provide recommendations for improving efficiency and cost control.
- Prepare variance analyses and investigate significant budget deviations.
- Produce timely financial reports for management and stakeholders.
- Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and external audits.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare financial projections.
- Assist departmental managers with budget planning and expenditure monitoring.
- Prepare financial models and business cases to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
- Participate in financial planning, policy development, and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA is an added advantage.
- Membership with a recognized professional accounting body is desirable.
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years' relevant experience in management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, or financial analysis.
- Experience working in a non-governmental organization (NGO) or donor-funded environment is an added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and management accounting principles.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
