The Mechanical Technician is responsible for ensuring high equipment availability, reliability, and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) by performing mechanical maintenance tasks safely and in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). Key duties include inspecting and testing mechanical equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, and maintaining proper housekeeping standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in the operational area.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines using manuals, diagrams, and engineering specifications.
  • Inspect and measure used parts using tools like calipers and micrometers.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments with hand tools.
  • Minimize downtime by informing production workers of preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop equipment.
  • Handle emergencies promptly to restore plant operations.
  • Prepare maintenance reports by analyzing data and trends.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Education: Diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Experience: 2-4 years in a busy process or heavy industry environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing equipment.
    • Familiarity with CMMS software and technical drawings.
    • Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Personal Qualities:
    • Self-driven, reliable, and able to work under minimal supervision.
    • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
    • Ability to work long hours and in stressful environments.
