Job Description:

The Monitoring and Evaluation Lead plays a crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness, impact, and sustainability of our programs and interventions. This position requires a strong commitment to refugee empowerment, youth development, and gender equality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework for AYAN's programs and projects.
  • Design data collection tools, methodologies, and systems to capture relevant indicators and outcomes.
  • Lead the collection, analysis, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data to assess program performance and impact.
  • Conduct regular field visits to project sites in Uganda and South Sudan to monitor activities, gather data, and provide technical support to field staff.
  • Coordinate with program Leads and staff to ensure that monitoring and evaluation activities are integrated into project planning, implementation, and reporting.
  • Provide capacity building and training to staff and partners on monitoring, evaluation, and learning best practices.
  • Produce timely and high-quality monitoring and evaluation reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with external consultants, researchers, and partners to conduct evaluations, assessments, and studies as needed.
  • Contribute to organizational learning and knowledge management by documenting lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.
  • Support program teams in utilizing monitoring and evaluation findings to adapt and improve program interventions.
  • Stay abreast of developments in monitoring and evaluation methodologies, tools, and techniques, and ensure their application to AYAN's programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as international development, social sciences, statistics, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including the development of indicators, data collection tools, and systems.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills, with proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, or R.
  • Experience working with refugee or displaced communities, particularly youth and women, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic or local languages spoken in Uganda and South Sudan is an advantage.
  • Commitment to AYAN's vision, mission, and values, including a strong commitment to gender equality, youth empowerment, and refugee rights.
