Publication Editor Responsibilities & Duties
- Edit and revise content for grammar, punctuation, and style consistency
- Must be knowledgeable in Luganda grammar and culture
- Should have training in Education and curriculum design
- Collaborate with writers and contributors to refine and enhance submissions
- Manage editorial schedules and ensure timely delivery of all content
- Fact-check articles and additional written material to maintain accuracy
- Ensure adherence to the publication's style guide and editorial policies
- Oversee the layout and design of publications in collaboration with designers
- Review and approve final proofs before publication
- Conduct thorough research to verify the authenticity of information
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to writers
- Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure content aligns with brand messaging
- Monitor industry trends and incorporate relevant changes into the publication
- Handle reader inquiries and address any content-related issues
Publication Editor Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in a similar editorial role
- Familiarity with content management systems and editing software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Experience with fact-checking and research methodologies
- Keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and English, or related field
- Strong editing and proofreading skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Knowledge of AP Style or other relevant style guides
- Ability to maintain high standards of quality and accuracy
- Good understanding of the publishing process
