We are looking for a Risk and Compliance Officer to manage risks and ensure compliance across our asset financing operations, particularly within the boda-boda lending portfolio. The role involves assessing credit risk, monitoring field activities, verifying documentation, ensuring regulatory adherence, and safeguarding the company’s assets. This position is critical to promoting sustainable growth and responsible lending practices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessments for all asset financing applications
- Evaluate client eligibility, guarantor credibility, and repayment capacity
- Identify fraud risks, documentation gaps, and warning signs
- Ensure loan processes comply with company policies and regulations
- Verify completeness and authenticity of client and guarantor documents
- Monitor field officers for ethical and compliant practices
- Respond to incidents of asset misuse, theft, or accidents
- Maintain accurate risk records, loan files, and compliance documentation
- Prepare risk and compliance reports for management
- Train staff and support audits to improve processes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or related field (Diploma with strong experience considered)
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in risk, compliance, microfinance, or asset financing (experience with boda-boda/vehicle loans is an advantage)
- Knowledge of credit analysis, asset-based lending, and field risk controls
- Strong understanding of microfinance regulations, KYC requirements, and consumer protection guidelines
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and communication skills
- High integrity, attention to detail, and ethical decision-making
