Hariss International Limited is seeking a Sales Executive to join their team in Kampala, Uganda. This role is within the Sales & Marketing division and reports to the Area Sales Supervisor.
Responsibilities or duties
The essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that agent's stores are opened early and going to the field early.
- Covering all sales points (shops, stockists, restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, hospitals, bars, and kiosks).
- Monitoring company products in each sales point and checking for expiries.
- Arranging product displays in the assigned area.
- Moving with the agent's sales team on all routes, monitoring their activities, and reporting any issues to the supervisor or manager.
- Following up on orders when stock levels reduce in the store.
- Monitoring company fridges for displays, product availability, and ensuring no competitor products are displayed.
- Loading all brands (soda, water, energy drink, juice, and biscuits) in reasonable quantities when going to the field and pushing all company brands. Penalties will be charged for failure to push certain brands.
- Maintaining the market created by promotions and supervision teams, especially for water.
- Ensuring bonuses are given to customers during promotions; failure to do so will be regarded as dishonesty and theft.
- Always carrying posters for route sales, placing them in visible areas, and replacing removed ones.
- Not disclosing any information to competitors regarding products, prices, business processes, or sales.
- Achieving the expected minimum sales target of at least 85% of the total target. Failure to achieve this target for three consecutive months may lead to termination.
- Reporting to management any agents mixing other products on the distribution truck or in the store.
- Advising depot managers to arrange products properly to avoid damages and expiries.
- Always using the company line to communicate with agents and customers.
- Being faithful to the employer and not receiving bribes from agents or customers.
- Portraying the best company image by dressing appropriately and maintaining neatness.
- Approaching customers, explaining products, and using the profit strategy to sell slow-moving products.
- Enforcing territorial respect between agents and controlling dumping.
- Not taking alcohol during working hours.
- Handling company property (phones, laptops) with care; costs for damages or repairs due to negligence will be charged.
- Sending daily reports to the data office and weekly reports to the supervisor.
- Monitoring radio and television adverts and informing management about old adverts or those with incorrect pricing.
- Knowing all customers by name, and ensuring they know you.
- Avoiding misuse of money entrusted by agents, as this could lead to arrest.
- Ensuring no overcharging of customers; this may lead to termination and forfeiture of terminal benefits.
- Performing any other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications or requirements
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of a diploma in Business Administration (Marketing science major) or any relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy environment.
Experience needed
Key Requirements:
- At least 2-3 years hands-on in the market.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
* Ensure that the agent’s stores are opened early and you go to the field early. * Cover all the sales points (shops, stockiest, restaurants, supermarket’s, hotels, hospitals, bars and kiosks). * Monitor our products in each and every sales point as well as checking for expiries. * Arrange the displays for our products in your area. * Move with the agent’s sales team on all routes and monitor their activities and in case of any issues you report to your supervisor or manager. * Follow up on orders when the stock levels reduce in the store. * Monitor the company fridges for displays, availability of products and that no competitor products are displayed in these fridges. * Load all brands i.e. soda, water, energy drink, juice and biscuits in reasonable quantities when going to the field. push all the company brands and a penalty will be charged for failure to push certain brands. * Maintain the market that has been created by the promotions and supervision team especially for water. * Ensure that bonuses are given to customers whenever there is a promotion and failure to do this will be regarded as dishonesty and theft. * Always move with posters whenever you go for a route sale and put them in all areas of entrance, visibility and replace those that have been removed. * You should not disclose any information to competitors regarding our products, prices, business processes or sales. * You are expected to achieve the expected minimum sales target of at least 85% of your total target. Failure to achieve this target for three consecutive months may lead to termination. * You should report to management all those agents mixing other products either on the distribution truck or store. * Advise the agents depot manager to always arrange the products in a proper way to avoid damages and expiries. * Always use the company line to communicate to your agent and all your customers. * You should be faithful to your employer and you should not receive any bribes from your agent and all your customers. * Always portray the best company image by dressing appropriately and keep neat and smart. * Customer approach: explain to customers about all the products and use the profit strategy to sell slow moving products. * Enforce territorial respect between the agents and control dumping. * Taking alcohol is not acceptable during working hours. * Handle and take good care of company property like phones and laptops and any costs for damages and repairs due to negligence will be charged on you. * Daily reports should be sent to the data office and a weekly report sent to the supervisor. * Monitor adverts on radio and Televisions and inform management about the old adverts that are aired or adverts with a wrong price. * You should know all your customers by name, and they should also know you. * In case the agent trusts you with money, avoid misusing it as this could lead you to be arrested and be taken to police. * Ensure that there is no overcharging of customers in your areas and if this happens it may lead to your termination and forfeiting of all your terminal benefits. * And any other duties as assigned by Management
