Soroti University is a Public University in Uganda located in Soroti City, Eastern Uganda Seven (7) kilometres along Soroti-Moroto Road. The University Secretary hereby invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant posts listed below that exist in the University:

Purpose of the Job

To teach, supervise, promote research, disseminate research findings, and participate in Community Service.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • PhD in Environmental Health.
  • Master of Science- Environmental Health or Master of Public Health – Environmental Science
  • Bachelors Degree in Environment Health.
  • Registration with the Uganda Allied Health Professional Council with a valid practicing license.

Experience needed

  • At least three (3) years’ teaching at the level of Lecturer in an Institution of Higher Learning, or three (3) years of research in a reputable organization or 3 years of Public Health practice.
  • Evidence of research in the relevant field with at least three (3) newly recognized publications within the last five years in peer reviewed journals, a book, or book chapters with ISBN Numbers
  • Evidence of supervision of graduate student to completion.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Teaching and assessing undergraduate and postgraduate students according to set guidelines of the University.
  • Mentoring students.
  • Conducting research.
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
  • Offering community service.

Key Outputs

  • Lectures, seminars, and tutorials conducted.
  • Research conducted and research findings disseminated/published.
  • Students’ research supervised.
  • Student assessments done.
  • Community service activities carried out.
