Localworks Ltd is hiring a Senior Site Engineer to provide technical expertise to execute assigned construction projects with support from other colleagues and management.

Reports to: Project Manager

Key responsibilities

The Senior Site Engineer shall:

  • Oversee and manage daily construction site operations, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
  • Interpret and review technical drawings, project plans, and contract documents to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and maintain smooth workflow,
  • Lead site inspections and quality control checks, implementing total quality management principles to uphold high standards.
  • Ensure all required material tests and samples are conducted and approved before related works commence.
  • Monitor the construction work programme, track any changes, and promptly report updates to the Site Manager.
  • Manage design modifications, ensuring timely documentation and communication to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to junior engineers, site supervisors, and other site personnel.
  • Participate in site surveys and accurate setting out activities to meet consultants’
  • Promote and enforce health and safety standards, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel, visitors, and third parties.
  • Assist the Site Manager in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet project deadlines.
  • Manage and monitor material deliveries, usage, and quality to align with project specifications.
  • Identify potential risks and delays, proposing effective mitigation strategies proactively.
  • Support project cost control and budgeting by tracking expenses and resource utilization.
  • Foster continuous improvement and implement lean construction practices to enhance site efficiency.
  • Verify that all materials and workmanship conform to project specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform any other duties and tasks as requested.

Required qualifications, competencies, personal attributes and experience

  • University degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Diploma in Civil Engineering or related course from a recognised University or higher institution of learning.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience as a Site Engineer and Site Manager on large construction projects.
    Proven ability to manage complex site operations with a focus on quality and safety.
    Strong understanding of construction methods, standards, and building codes.
    Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents.
    Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
    Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
    Health and Safety certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with project management and design software such as AutoCAD, MS
    Project, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
