WHAT YOU'LL DO
Expert Mentorship
- Assist and provide legal expertise to Ugandan police and prosecutors on human trafficking, child exploitation, and related investigations and prosecutions.
- Advise, support, and conduct legal research for specialized human trafficking investigation and prosecution teams.
- Identify barriers to effective investigation/prosecution/adjudication of human trafficking cases in Uganda and identify and execute strategies for overcoming those barriers.
- Maintain organized reports and detailed data regarding all human trafficking cases throughout Uganda.
Training
- Assist in the design and development of targeted, evidence-based training curricula and resources tailored to the unique needs of Ugandan police, prosecutors, and other criminal justice stakeholders.
- Assist in conducting knowledge, and skill-based trainings for identified audiences.
- Communicate HTI's vision and mission to government officials, practitioners, and criminal justice stakeholders.
Leadership
- Supervise HTI’s Regional Response Team (RRT) - Law Enforcement Coordinators to encourage accountability and best practices across the RRTs.
- Lead and motivate team by setting goals and objectives, delegating tasks, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Host regular case meetings with RRTs to facilitate staff development and information sharing and to increase successful case outcomes.
- Participate as a member of HTI Uganda’s Leadership Team to ensure HTI’s Uganda program is strategically aligned with programmatic goals and impactful.

Cultivate Relationships
- Develop relationships with law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and other relevant government officials in Uganda.
- Facilitate coordination between investigators, prosecutors, and victim assistance coordinators within human trafficking cases.
- Coordinate and partner with other civil society organizations providing services to human trafficking victims.
- Represent HTI at meetings and workshops in Uganda, as required.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Juris Doctor required.
- At least eight (8) years prosecutorial experience required; specialization in human trafficking / child exploitation or similar crimes highly preferred.
- Experience training police and prosecutors on investigation and prosecution best practices related to human trafficking, crimes against children (online or otherwise), domestic violence, and related crimes highly preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience leading a team to achieve ambitious objectives in challenging environments with excellent outcomes required; experience leading cross-cultural/international teams preferred.
- Advocacy and/or policy experience with key stakeholders including governments, cultural and religious leaders, non-governmental organizations, and multi-disciplinary teams preferred.
