Supervisor-Centrifugal job at Kakira Sugar Limited

Overall purpose of the job.

• To oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of batch or continuous centrifuges, and all their auxiliary equipments in Curing section ensuring proper separation of solids & liquids, Manage PLC-controlled cycles, check wash water temperatures and maintain high safety and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the loading, spinning, washing and discharging phases of batch-type centrifuges to ensure maximum productivity.
• Ensure all equipments in curing section up to sugar bagging is maintained properly, attend all maintenance required for those equipments.
• Supervise and allocate works for all your subordinates every day and ensure Curing section machinery maintenance is done in time.
• Perform or supervises mechanical maintenance to minimise downtime, such as checking basket loads, drive technology and repairing components.
• Ensure optimal separation of products, such as separating sugar crystals from mother liquor, to improve efficiency and reduce water usage.
• Monitors machine performance to meet food-grade or industrial standards, including managing moisture and ash content in output.
• Ensures the machine operates with safe parameters and adheres to safety standards.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned to you by your line manager.

C Knowledge, qualifications & Experience

C1.1 Education:

• Minimum of diploma in mechanical engineering or craft certificate with 6 to 8 years’ experience in curing section of any sugar plant.

C1.2 Experience, Skills and Competences:

• Minimum of 6 years in factory experience in operating and maintaining centrifugal machines will be of added advantage.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with automated control systems (PLC) and touch-screen interfaces
