Description

Kampala Hospital is hiring a Team Leader – Housekeeping to support the Facilities & Services Department in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-managed hospital environment. He/She is responsible for supervising and coordinating housekeeping staff to ensure all hospital areas are properly cleaned and maintained in line with infection prevention standards, hospital policies, and patient care expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily cleaning operations across patient rooms, offices, public spaces, washrooms, and outdoor areas.
  • Ensure all cleaning practices comply with infection control and occupational safety guidelines.
  • Conduct routine inspections to assess cleanliness, work quality, and policy adherence.
  • Allocate duties, monitor performance, and support staff development.
  • Manage housekeeping supplies, stock levels, and usage records.
  • Oversee linen management, deep cleaning schedules, and curtain rotation.
  • Enforce waste segregation and proper disposal, including hazardous waste.
  • Participate in developing and implementing department SOPs and work standards.
  • Handle basic patient and visitor inquiries related to housekeeping services.
  • Support the Housekeeper In-Charge in departmental planning and reporting.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Hotel Management, Institutional Catering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar housekeeping supervisory role.
  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hygiene, infection control, and workplace safety.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a team effectively.
  • Must be willing to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
