Role Overview & Scope

The Technical Solar Sales Representative will develop and execute strategic sales plans to expand the customer base, drive solar energy penetration, and build a sustainable market presence for Chloride Exide’s solar PV systems. The role bridges technical consultation and commercial sales—assessing client energy needs, designing tailored solar proposals, negotiating contracts, and coordinating seamless project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy & Market Expansion: Collaborate with management to penetrate new markets, analyze sales data, and expand the customer base across Uganda.
  • Lead Generation & Client Consultation: Proactively prospect leads via networking, cold calling, and industry events; conduct detailed consultations to recommend optimal solar solutions.
  • Technical Proposal & Negotiation: Prepare comprehensive sales proposals outlining costs, technical specifications, and project timelines; negotiate mutually beneficial commercial terms.
  • Technical Coordination & Post-Sales: Partner with engineering and installation teams for project execution; conduct post-installation follow-ups to ensure optimal PV system performance.
  • Client Education & Market Engagement: Conduct client workshops, represent the brand at industry events, and collaborate with marketing to develop targeted promotional campaigns.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: BSc in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Engineering, or Bachelor of Commerce / Business Administration with recognized professional qualifications in Sales & Marketing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in technical solar sales (specifically solar panels, battery storage, and inverters).
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated ability to consistently meet and exceed sales targets (UGX 60.0M+ monthly).
  • Technical Expertise: Thorough knowledge of PV systems, Solar Water Heating (SWH), Power Back-up Systems (PBS), and technical system sizing.
  • Competencies: Strong negotiation, persuasion, and client presentation abilities with the capacity to translate complex engineering concepts into accessible commercial value propositions.
