The former Simba FM presenter, who recently contested for the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag in Mubende Municipality, revealed that he has already spent close to UGX 100 million in his political bid.
Media personality Segawa Ismael, popularly known as Sureman Segawa, has opened up about the heavy financial strain many aspiring politicians are facing this campaign season.
The former Simba FM presenter, who recently contested for the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag in Mubende Municipality, revealed that he has already spent close to UGX 100 million in his political bid.
According to Sureman, most of the money has been spent supporting various women groups, church fundraisings, and other community initiatives.
“It’s really expensive. I can tell you I’ve spent over ninety million shillings during this election period. Most of it has gone into church fundraisings and community causes. On some weekends, I would spend over eight hundred thousand shillings,” he shared.
Despite his heavy investment, Sureman did not secure the NUP flag for the Mubende Municipality MP seat. He, however, confirmed that he won’t be running as an independent candidate.
