The chief Justice of Uganda Honorable Bart Katureebe has responded to earlier remarks made by the president of Uganda during the national budget day that bail for suspected killers is not acceptable.
The Chief Justice has reminded the president that the judiciary’s position on bail can only change when the law is amended.
Through a press released headed letter Justice Katureebe made the judiciary’s stance on bail application very clear to the head of state. ’It is simple: the issue of bail is governed by the constitution and the law. Until the law is amended, bail will be granted or denied in accordance with the constitution and the law’’ part of the Chief Justice’s letter read
