Betty Aol Ochan is the new leader of opposition in Parliament.

Betty’s appointment last week by the authority in power Patrick Oboi Amuriat continues to divide opinion within the party. The Gulu Municipality woman MP replaces Winnie Kiiza.

Betty Aol in a strange tale of events to NBS TV, revealed that she received the news about her appointment from a member who is not from her party the FDC.

In the interview the legislator who describes herself as hardworking, recollects the moments below.

Betty Aol: Why not, this is about team work and people should give me time to work, you can’t start judging at the beginning of my work.

Betty Aol Ochan: Before you cast your doubt, give me time and an opportunity to work.

Betty Aol Ochan: I’m a peace builder, I’ve been working with everyone since I came to parliament.

Betty Aol Ochan: As a teacher, I’m also a team worker, I don’t believe in braving it alone.

Betty Aol Ochan: I laughed because Dr. Bukenya (Michael Yiga, MP Bukuya) is not a member of FDC but he already had the information.

Betty Aol Ochan: I didn’t even anticipate it until I talked with the party president before the party announced.

Betty Aol Ochan: When I entered parliament on Friday, media was all around me.

Betty Aol Ochan: The news started as rumors in the corridors of parliament.

Betty Aol Ochan: Dr. Bukenya, the chair of the health committee was the first person to tell me I was going to be the new leader of opposition.

Betty Aol Ochan: I came to Parliament in 2006 and I’ve been working very hard, very consistent and respecting all my political leaders.

Betty Aol Ochan: I’ve worked for my people tirelessly. I say one Uganda one people.
