Police in Mbarara is investigating circumstances under which unknown people set ablaze the home of the self proclaimed Ankole King in Kabanyoro, Itaba Rwampara ,Mbarara district last night.
Information reaching our News desk indicates that two traditional huts; Kairu and Kakama were set on fire by unknown people, one of them belonging to Idrisa Kaweesa, the father to Umar Rubambansi, the self proclaimed Ankole King who was recently chased away by his family for allegedly assaulting his father.
According to Max Muhumuza, the Ankole spokesperson, property worth millions of money was destroyed. He however, quickly adds that this will not intimidate them and force them to give up their quest for the revival of the lost glory of Ankole Kingdom.
Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region police spokesperson confirmed the ruthless incident. He says that although police rushed to the scene and put out the fire, no arrests have been made so far, adding that investigations have commenced.
