The High court In Kampala has handed a 40 year jail term to a man who poured acid on his wife and their 2 weeks old daughter.
This after 38 year old Kassim Kakaire pleaded guilty to the murder of Josephine Namanda ; a former Businesswoman dealing in Agro-chemical products at Container Village in Kampala city .
Kakakire has spent 4 years on remand at Luzira prison because he had denied the offence, then on 8th/January this year Prosecution presented witnesses who have been testifying against him until today, when he changed his mind and confessed to the crime before Justice Anthony Ojoko Ayuko.
Kakaire admitted to hiring 2 men ; Ivan Namanya and Farooq Walusimbi to spy on his late wife Namanda who later reported to him that she had an extra-marital affair.
Kakaire’s hit men; Ivan Namanya and Faroouq Walusimbi are already in jail serving 25 years each which was handed to them in 2015 after pleading guilty to receiving 3 million shillings to pour acid on Namanda.
They committed the offence on 24th/November 2014 at Naalya round- about along Northern by-pass as the couple was travelling in the same car with their baby coming from a naming ceremony by Kakaire’s family.

Namanda sustained severe injuries and later died at Mulago hospital but the baby survived.
