Police is investigating the gruesome murder of yet another unidentified woman in Entebbe Municipality.

According to Fred Mugerwa, the in-charge of security at the area local council, the half naked body was yesterday(Monday 28th January 2019) found, by a young girl , dumped in the compound of Rose Namutebi, a resident of Katabi cell, the same area where several women got killed in 2017.

The body was had signs of strangulation and, according to eyewitnesses, had a stick inserted in her genitals.

“The face had bruises and she seemed to have been strangled. She was only left with a top blouse, while the rest of the body parts were naked, exposing several scratches,” said Mugerwa.

This has since sent a wave of panic among residents – who fear that the gruesome murders that rocked Wakiso district in 2017 and led to the death of more than 23 women are back.

Area residents noted that the deceased was last spotted in a nearby bar only identified as Captain’s bar on Sunday evening. When a police sniffing dog was brought in, it back-traced the steps to the same bar. However, no arrests were made since no one was found at the bar.

A source at Entebbe police station told our reporter that the deceased who had dreaded hair, must have been strangled from somewhere before the body was dumped.

Some residents however, complained that they were denied the opportunity to look at the body to ascertain its identity.

When contacted, Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson confirmed the death of unidentified lady, which he termed as a suspected murder recorded at police.

He said investigations had commenced , adding that the  body was taken to Mulago hospital for a postmortem.

In 2017, within just a space of seven months, over 23 women were murdered in nearly similar fashion in Katabi and Nansana in Wakiso district . It appeared that most of the women were first sexually assaulted and then strangled and sometimes sharp sticks stuck in their genitals.

Last week, High court judge, Wilson Kwesiga, in a ruling delivered on Thursday , acquitted three suspects accused of sexually abusing and murdering Rose Nakimuli, a hairdresser in Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District, noting that police had done a bad job in investigating the case. Her body was found in a banana plantation with sticks inserted in her private parts.

However, Police are considering an appeal against the acquittal of the suspects . Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says police will consider an appeal, as soon as the case file is returned to the head General Crimes Department.

During the acquittal, Justice Wilson Kwesiga blamed the police for doing a shambolic job and the state for maliciously charging the suspects.

Preliminary investigations led to the arrest of Ivan Katongole a businessman dealing in fish exports, Andrew Kizito and Hellen Nabaggala after it was proved that the three had been seen with the deceased on the night she was murdered.

Call print-outs also revealed that Kizito was in constant contact with Katongole on the night of the attack and that Katongole’s vehicle had been seen in Katabi that same night.
