The Minister of State for Internal Affairs, Obiga Kania has lashed out at Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana, saying he has no right to lock a government facility and that he should look for better ways to express his frustrations.
Ssewanyana was arrested by the police on Monday for matching to Kiruddu hospital with chains and trying to close the government facility over the defective sewage disposal system.
The visibly irritated minister made the remarks today after Members of Parliament tasked him to explain the whereabouts of Ssewanyana.
Later , news come through indicating that MP Ssewanyana had been released on police bond, from Nagalama police station where he had been held for two days, with Makindye division mayor; Ali Kasirye ;commonly known as Mulyanyama, claiming that the legislator had not been given food, asides from what he called ‘chapati’.
After his release, Ssewanyana has stuck to his guns, vowing not to give up the fight he started until the sewage problem at Kiruddu hospital is addressed.
“I have been charged with unlawfully society, which is categorically a trumped up and malicious charge, aimed at silencing me from demanding for accountability of the released billions of tax payer’s money to fix the problem.” I will not give up until the government fixes Kiruddu’s sewerage system.
He was charged with unlawful society and his release was secured by the Kawempe Division Councillor, Muhammad Segirinya and Buhweju County MP Francis Mwijukye.
