Minister Godfrey Kiwanda’s Miss Curvy Beauty Pageant seems to be gathering pace after Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga agreed to take the matter to the floor of Parliament.
Miss Curvy Beauty Pageant attracted mayhem recently with women activists voicing concerns over the motive of Minister Kiwanda’s project which is according to the organisers looks at promoting the beauty of the country and hence draw tourists.
The organizers of the pageant appeared to be fighting a lost cause after several women activities put up a spirited battle in the media.
But, it is the battle-harden who survive in the game of competition. Anne Mungoma, the chief organiser did not give up on the fight as she received myriads of messages from critics.
Mungoma made it a point to counter the negative vibe about the Miss Curvy pageant. Parliament had interested itself in the matter with the Speaker Kadaga voicing against the who project. It looked a project heading to its death bed.
Mungoma knew she had to confront the problem. Good enough President Yoweri Museveni had no problem with the project. The hugely bummed Mungoma and her team needed to speak to the speaker about the project.
She got her golden opportunity to meet Kadaga. And this was the time for her to not only get the Speaker on board but also those around her.
She had to ensure her girls were in the best possible wear. she made sure they were not clad in minis to expose their thigh power and be denied entry to the August House.
But also attractive by dressing them in jeans to bring out their curves to showcase to the MPs.
Mungoma appeared to have instructed them to shake their their booties to prove they were not fake.
Her presentation before the speaker was elaborate and to the point. She also made it a point to clear the air on the insinuation that they were a group aimed at promoting their bodies for sex tourism.
By the close of ther presentation and then the showcase by the girls of their booties.
They left some male MPs including James Waluswaka and Esther Among more than convinced and had their minds changed about the whole project leading to Kadaga giving it a thumbs up.
