Police in Kampala are holding over 400 suspected criminals who were netted down yesterday in an operation in slum areas that included Kisenyi,Katanga and around the central business district.

Kampala metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire,says the operations, aimed at weeding out criminal elements in Kampala and the suburbs, were sanctioned by KMP commander Moses Kafeero.

Police in a statement said that the suspects will be charged with being in possession of suspected narcotic substances and stolen items.

Luke explains that police recovered a number of items like breaking implements and Knives, as well as drugs used by these criminals.

The suspects are currently detained at Katwe Police station , Central Police Station Kampala ,Wandegeya Police station and Old Kampala Police station.
