The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga notes with concern the Government continued tendencies of interrupting the parliament calendar by scheduling its programs the way they want.

This in relation to the upcoming week-long NRM retreat that starts on Thursday in Kyankwanzi ,under the theme industrialization for job creation with President Yoweri Museveni expected to open the session on March 14.

This has forced parliament to adjust its program to have plenary sit this morning to conduct some business before the NRM mps who constitute the majority number in the house can leave for this retreat.

Kadaga notes that such programs would be held in recess periods as all is clearly indicated in parliament calendar to avoid the disruption of parliament programs.

Last year, Kadaga raised the same concerns over cabinet Ministers missing sittings, while attending cabinet meetings. She questioned the decision for cabinet to sit at the same time when parliament is supposed to be in session on Thursday. Government responded by rescheduling cabinet meetings from Thursday to Monday.

MEANWHILE, The Kassanda North Member of Parliament, Patrick Nsamba has said that the rebel MPs will not miss the NRM Caucus retreat at Kyankwanzi, saying all matters they agreed to deal with like corruption and embezzlement have all increased and Ugandans should not expect anything new from the retreat.

Nsamba made the remarks while responding to remarks made by spokesperson of the NRM caucus, Margaret Muhanga who told journalists that six NRM MPs including Gaffa Mbwatekamwa (Kasambya County), Patrick Oshabe (Kassanda North), Barnabas Tinkasimiire (Buyaga West) Monicah Amoding (Kumi Woman), Nambeshe John Baptist Manjiya County), and Theodore Ssekikubo (Lwemiyaga County) will not be allowed to attend caucus because they have shown a tendency to be disruptive.

John Baptist Nambeshe, the MP Manjiya County has said he will attend the meeting in protest.
“This is dictatorship, it’s an abrogation of the Constitution of the party and we shall not take it lying down. We are going in protest. I will go and I want the whole world to know even if they bar the press from going. I have to go there and they chase me from there,” MP Nambeshe said.

Buyaga County Member of Parliament, Barnabus Tinkasimire said that the NRM MPs attending the meeting are only going to plan on how present President Museveni as sole candidate in the party’s next primaries.

“We are telling Ugandans that the group going to Kyankwanzi, they are not only going to conspire to loot this Muhanga said the matter is not on the agenda but will be discussed if brought forward by a party member. country but also to cause another tear down of our constitution,” Tinkasimire said.
