Jailed SK Mbuga and wife Vivienne Chebet are in hot soup and now nobody wants to associate with them.
Mbuga and Vivienne are accused of fleecing a Swedish Member of Parliament 53 millions of Kronas about 20 Billion Uganda Shillings and then fled to Uganda to live large.
Vivienne who is being kept at Luzira Prison appeared at the Anti Corruption Court in Kampala to try and secure her freedom.
SK’s wife turned up in court in a red dress, hid her eyes in dark glasses and cream pair of stiletto shoes.
She was in high spirits perhaps with hope she will walk home free.
The court in leafy Kololo was jammed with relatives and friends who had come to help her return home.
Vivienne had her lawyers assemble a team of five people. They include; 65 year old Ismail Lwanga, a Commercial Farmer from Busunju who is also her Paternal Uncle. Others were Betty Kaiwa a niece and friends Sarah Kaweesa, Judith Kabaare and Bridget Kiggundu.
Judge Margaret Tibulya branded Vivienne flight risk and went on to tear into her surreties whom she claimed were not strong enough.
In a ruling delivered on behalf of Tibulya, the Grade one Magistrate Pamela Lamunu said that her court couldn’t grant bail to Chebet because she is a flight risk.
Lamunu also explained that even though Chebet presented five sureties, their number was not important but their substantiality.
