The National Resistance Movement party, NRM, has warned the public against further spreading the rumor of sexual misconduct that allegedly occurred during the recently concluded one week retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) Kyankwanzi.
NRM Spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa, in a statement, refutes the social media reports of sexual misconduct by MPs Ssozi Galabuzi (Busiro North) and Lydia Mirembe (Butambala district) as false, baseless and fabricated.
Last week, rumor made rounds on social media indicating that the two had a drink up on Tuesday night(19th March, 2019) before moving to the VIP wing where they reportedly spent the night together in the midst of other Male MPs.
However, Mulindwa in the statement says Mirembe left Kyankwanzi on Tuesday evening, shortly after they returned from Ngoma state lodge where the final caucus resolutions were read and adopted. She reportedly traveled in the same car with state ministers Godfrey Suubi Kiwanda Chris Baryomunsi ,and MPs Julius Maganda as well as Sylvia Nayebare.
‘’It’s therefore wrong to allege that the two MPs committed the said misconduct at Kyankwanzi the same night. These allegations of misconduct made against our MPs are therefore false baseless and fabricated by selfish minds with intent to tarnish the image of our legislators’’ part of the statement reads
