Police has dismissed reports of recorded death in an accident that occurred this morning when a Kampala-bound bus owned by Swift Safari overturned in Sheema District in western Uganda, leaving several passengers injured.
Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson Martial Tumusiime said the bus registration number UAT 395C hit a road hump and the driver lost control before it overturned at Kitojo in Sheema Municipality (about 25 km from Bushenyi town) at about 10am.
He dismissed reports that several people had died. He was, however, quick to note that some of the passengers were rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital and Kampala International Hospital (KIU) in Bushenyi in critical condition.
Promising to get back to us, Martial also said they had not ascertained how many people were on board and how many have been injured because the victims were immediately rushed to the two hospitals.
