Police in Bulambuli district has nabbed five people for illegally possessing a firearm and trying to sell it at 1.2 million shillings.

Four of the suspects were captured while selling the gun at 1.2 million Shillings on Saturday at Buyaga market in Bulambuli district.

They include Lawrence Wazamba, 50, Makwasi Robert, 43, Namukuta Irene, 38, Madibo Alvin, 20, all residents of Bukilya, Nalusala sub-county in Sironko district, and Gustine Nambasi, 33, a resident of Sisiyi in Bulambuli district.

meanwhile, the fifth suspect, Alvin Madibo, was intercepted during a joint operation by Police in Sironko and Bulambuli on Sunday morning from Linda village, in Sironko district.

According to police reports, Madibo, while serving as a guard under Pinnacle Security Ltd deserted his gun between July and August 2019, which he reportedly handed to his relative Makwasi Robert sell it, however, Makwasi instead gave the gun to Wazemba Lawrence and Gustine Nambasi.

John Robert Tukei, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson says Madibo was found with a pair of khaki uniform and black security boots both belonging to Pinnacle security. He added that inquiries are ongoing with a view of getting more riffles and suspects.

Madibo claims to have joined Pinnacle Security Ltd in February 2019 at Kireka, Kampala where he trained for two and half months before being posted to Serena hotel for two weeks and finally got transferred to Karuma Power Dam where he served three months before he deserted.
