Results for the candidates that sat for Uganda Certificate of Education( UCE) under the Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb)are finally out showing a slight improvement in overall performance from the previous year.
The results were delivered by the Education Minister Janet Kataha Museveni at the Office of the president auditorium in Kampala.
According to Prof Mary Akwakol, the UNEB Chairman there was an improvement in overall performance this year compared to the previous year from 87.2 percent in 2018 to 92.2 percent.
Female candidates performed better than males in the English Language. However, male candidates showed better performance in other large entry subjects, in mathematics and science.
UCE 2019 also saw an overall Improvement in Biology this year compared to the past few years where this subject has registered poor performance.
UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odong has revealed that 410 candidates with special needs registered for the examinations, compared to 357 the previous year.

Out of 337,697 candidates registered to sit for the 2019 Uganda Certificate of Examinations (UCE),333,060 sat from 3,531 centers across the country while 4660 were absent.This is an increase of 2,339 from 2018.
This represents an increment of 963 candidates (0.28 percent) from 2018
According to Dan Odongo, the UNEB secretary-general, the number of female candidates surpassed that of males making up to 50.2 percent, an increase from 49.5 percent in 2018.
