A team of health officials has on Monday morning arrived at the Zengebe landing site in Nakasongola district to examine a patient suspected to have contracted COVID-19.

The patient alongside five others believed to be from the same family was on transit from Kenya to Kampala when police intercepted them.

Policemen immediately got them after docking at the Zengebe landing site on Sunday.

Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson Isah Ssemwogerere says they got a tipoff from the DPC Amolater district that among the people traveling on a ferry MV Kyoga there was one that presented with signs and symptoms similar to that of COVID-19.

He says they were captured in Nakasongola aboard a Taxi and immediately placed under isolation in a tent pending the arrival of health officials.

Nakasongola District Health Officer Dr. Agaba Byamukama confirmed that matter but says a team of health workers is still on the ground assessing the suspected patient.

Dan Muganga, the Nakasongola Resident District Commissioner says that he has alerted his task force team that will meet later today to discuss measures of enforcing the Presidential directives and prevent the spread of the virus.

A team of District health officials has been dispatched to Zengebe landing site in Nakasongola district to investigate a family that has been quarantined over a suspected coronavirus threat.

Museveni advised that anybody with a cough or cold should not go into public space.

“You should self-isolate yourself. Even at home, cough into a handkerchief, which should be washed regularly and well-ironed – or use disposal tissue, which should be flushed.”Museveni said

“Once you avoid open coughing and sneezing and you wash your hands regularly, then you will not contaminate surfaces,” says Museveni. That way, the public will be protected.
