A local police constable in Kireka, Kira division has been detained and charged with unlawful wounding for shooting and injuring a defense secretary following a heated argument.

Sam Obotoro the police constable reportedly fired live bullets at the Kamuli zone C defense secretary identified as Paul Mbogo at 9 pm for reportedly moving with a gun in the night.

Deputy Kampala metropolitan police mouthpiece Luke Owoyesigyire, says Mbogo met Obotoro armed with a gun on his way to the usual duty of guarding a home to one of the residents within Kamuli C zone and stopped him.

Mbogo reportedly refused  Obotoro to proceed any further  unless he identified himself and releases the weapon.

Owoyesigyire says a suspicious Mbogo commanded Obotoro to hand over his weapon unsuccessfully, forcing him to use force to grab the gun hence injuring him in the process.

However, Mbogo who is currently nursing a wound he sustained to the leg at Gwattiro hospital has denied Oborotos narrative to police as false.

Mbogo alleges to Police that he was not accidentally shot but because he demanded an explanation from Obotoro for moving armed in the dark that he received a gunshot to the leg.

Owoyesigyire says that Kira Division police have embarked on investigations into the case.
