Ministry of Health has today confirmed 12 new COVID-19 cases out of  2,113 samples tested this makes the total number of infections in Uganda to 833.

10 of the new infections are community cases, contacts of persons that tested positive for the virus in the districts of  Luweero with 2 cases, Kyotera 2, Amuru 4, Buikwe  1, and Tororo with 1 infection.

Also, 2 cases were confirmed from truck drivers at the Malaba border.

Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the Director-General of health services says all the contacts that tested positive are receiving care at different health facilities.

As of Thursday, over 300,000 cases of COVID-19 had been reported on the African continent.

According to the World Health Organisation, over 35 percent of the cases being reported on the continent are from South Africa which has over 111,000 cases while countries within the East African Community bloc contribute less than 4 percent of all the cases.
