Political actors in the opposition camp have refused to stay gloomy after an opinion poll conducted in March 2020 putting President Museveni ahead of others in winning elections.

The report that was on Wednesday unleashed by the Chief Executive Officer Research World International Patrick Wakidashows that if elections were held in March, 46 percent of Ugandans would vote President Museveni with while 22 percent, Bobi Wine while Forum and 17 percent Democratic Change’s Kiiza Besigye.

The opinion polls on behalf of the Great Lakes Institute for Strategic Studies, President Museveni’s support is dominant in the eastern and western districts among others, and lowest in Buganda.

Bobi Wine, on the other hand, is leading in Kampala, Wakiso, among others, and lowest support in western districts of Uganda while
Dr Besigye’s support is highest in Rwenzori and lowest in Lango.

Now the National Unity Platform president-NUP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has trashed the opinion polls as fake and tailor-made to favour Museveni.

He alleges that this would not be the first time that the President was hiring organizations to unveil unrealistic opinion polls to his advantage.

He adds that by pronouncing himself in the lead, Museveni is only looking for a way to rig elections come 2021.

Bobi Wine who says this poll doesn’t threaten the opposition one bit has rallied his supporters to stay steadfast and alert ahead of the general elections.

In the poll 11 percent of Ugandans were undecided on who to vote, while 1 percent would vote Alliance for National Transformation’s Mugisha Muntu and 1 percent would also vote Democratic Party’s Norbert Mao.

The report also indicates that Kyagulanyi has the highest chance of succeeding Museveni, followed by Besigye and then President Museveni’s son Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
