Just when we thought the rumors that he was planning to stand for President on the FDC ticket, Kampala City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has finally come out to officially declare his intentions for the Kampala Lord Mayor under FDC.
A month later, Lukwago has on Thursday been nominated from the FDC party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.
Today different nominated flag beares for the lord mayorship positions from the various cities have on today gathered at FDC offices
Lukwago was backed by the Kawempe South Mp Mubarak Munyagwa, Nakawa Legislator Micheal Kabaziguruka and the Kampala Woman Mp aspirant Stella Nyanzi.
The FDC secretariat acknowledged receiving his expression of interest forms and nominations for the FDC party primaries.
Erias Lukwago who is the incumbent lord mayor appreciated the party for endorsing him on the party ticket.
He revealed that since the majority of the at the Kampala Capital city authority councilors are FDC party members it will make things easier for him.
Last month Kampala Woman MP Nabillah Naagayi accused FDC bigwigs of shooting her in the foot when they denied accepting her nomination papers for the Kampala Lord Mayor in favor of Lukwago.
The papers were rejected by the electoral commission Deputy chairperson Bamwenda Toteremuka because she missed the deadline.
