Due to the fast-rising cases of COVID-19 in Kampala, the ministry of health has launched a fresh task force to aid in containing the rapid spread of the virus.
The task force headed by Maj. Gen Geoffrey Muheesi and deputized by Senior Presidential Advisor on Epidemics Dr. Monica Musenero will oversee the enforcement of the COVID-19 presidential directives under the National Covid-19 task force led by the Prime Minister.
The Minister of Health Jane Aceng says since Uganda has had 11 deaths in a span of 2 weeks, the task force will focus on COVID -19 deaths and proper burying methods.
Aceng says Kampala currently has the highest threat of COVID-19 infections because patients have unknown transmission lines which makes it harder to trace their contacts.
Her statement comes after 2 positive cases were recorded from Galiraya and Namaganda arcades in Kampala.
By Thursday, a total of 11 deaths have been recorded with 8 recorded in Kampala.
The latest case is of a 60-year-old male of Indian Origin who had been admitted to International Hospital Kampala.
Kampala Minister Betty Amongi revealed that two positive cases were recorded from two shopping arcades in Kampala. They are Galiraya and Namaganda.
Also, 4 people tested positive from Eagle holdings,3 from Toyota Kampala office, and 4 from Megha Industries.
Uganda has a total of 1,353 cases with 1,141 recoveries.
