Police in Kawempe has launched investigations into circumstances under which a woman bled to death after delivery of a baby Boy.

The deceased Nalubiiya Grace, a resident of Kijjabijo zone in Wakiso district was first admitted at a clinic in Gayaza where she reportedly gave birth normally but failed to stop bleeding after.

Patrick Onyango the Kampala metropolitan police mouthpiece says when the staff at the clinic noticed Nalubiya’s condition was deteriorating, they decided to refer her to Mulago Regional referral hospital in Kawempe for further treatment.

However, relatives failed to reach Mulago at Kawempe hospital in time and she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Onyango says Nalubiya’s baby Boy remains alive and well, but police have started investigations into possible neglect at the clinic where she was first admitted.

Wamugerwa Barbirye a niece to the deceased while reporting the matter to police says they were told Nalubiya passed on before reaching Kawempe hospital.
